Coachella Valley residents could soon know the fate of a proposed La Quinta development that would include hundreds of houses, a hotel and a high-tech surf wave basin — a component that's drawn strong opposition from some neighbors who question its practicality amid a historic drought in California.Coral Mountain Resort is a $200 million development proposed for 386 acres of vacant land at the southwest corner of 58th Avenue and Madison Street.During a special meeting Wednesday afternoon, the La Quinta City Council will consider substantial zoning and general plan changes that would be necessary for the project to proceed.
